In Loving Memory of Ronnie E. Lee Coursey

With heavy hearts, we remember and honor the life of Ronnie E. Lee Coursey, who peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the age of 80, at the Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City, Kentucky.

Born on March 14, 1946, in Paducah, Kentucky, to the late Fulton and Geneva Reynolds Coursey, Ronnie lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, passion, and love for family. He was a man who took pride in everything he did and built a life filled with purpose and unforgettable memories.

Ronnie spent many years working as a machinist for Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and later continued his career with James Marine, Inc. and Murtco in Paducah. Through his years of labor, he earned the respect of those around him for his skill, commitment, and work ethic. Beyond his profession, Ronnie’s faith remained an important foundation in his life as a devoted Baptist.

But perhaps one of Ronnie’s greatest passions was his lifelong love for car racing and building custom vehicles. From his younger years attending races at Paducah International Raceway to spending countless hours restoring and customizing classic cars, Ronnie’s love for engines and speed was something that never faded. The roar of the track, the smell of burning rubber, and the excitement of racing became cherished parts of his life story.

His talent for bringing old cars back to life was unmatched. Ronnie poured his heart and creativity into building hotrods and custom classics, including his beloved 1923 Bucket-T, 1932 and 1934 Fords, Ford Fairlanes, Ford Falcons, Mercury Comets, and many more. Each project reflected his passion, patience, and craftsmanship. One of his most memorable treasures was his 1953 Ford Truck, a vehicle many will forever picture him driving, cigar in hand, embodying the bold and unforgettable spirit that made Ronnie who he was.

Above all, Ronnie was a family man. He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Tomoko “Tomi” Shaw Coursey, whose love and partnership stood strong through the decades. He is also survived by his sons, Jason Coursey and Justin (Becca Joyce) Coursey, his cherished grandchildren Jaycie, Chloe, and Jaxon Coursey, his brother Lewis (Sonja) Coursey, his sister Delores Via, and many nieces and nephews who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Brad Jackson.

Though Ronnie’s passing leaves a void that can never truly be filled, his legacy lives on through the family he loved, the cars he built, the memories he created, and the lives he touched. His strength, passion, and larger-than-life personality will never be forgotten.

To those who knew and loved him, may you find comfort in the memories you shared and peace in knowing his spirit will continue to ride on through every engine roar and every road ahead.

Rest peacefully, Ronnie. Your journey may have ended here, but your legacy will continue to drive on forever.
