In Loving Memory of King Overton
With broken hearts and deep sorrow, we remember the precious life of King Overton, a 9-year-old boy whose passing has left an unimaginable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
King tragically lost his life after being found unresponsive at SwimRVA North in Henrico County during a summer camp on Monday afternoon. According to reports, camp staff immediately began CPR and continued lifesaving efforts until paramedics and firefighters arrived. Despite every effort made to save him, King was transported to a nearby hospital, where he sadly passed away.
The heartbreaking loss of such a young life is something no family should ever have to endure.
King was more than just a child—he was a son, a light, and the center of his family’s world. His mother, LaTaisha Johnson, shared words no parent should ever have to say, describing King as “our everything, the love of our lives, our heart, our joy, and our reason for so much.” Those words paint a picture of just how deeply loved and cherished he was.
At only 9 years old, King had a future full of possibilities, dreams yet to be fulfilled, and memories still waiting to be made. His laughter, innocence, and presence brought joy to everyone around him, and his loss is being felt far beyond his immediate family.
