With heavy hearts, the community of Orland and all of Steuben County mourn the devastating loss of Febie Booher, a young life taken far too soon following a tragic traffic collision on the morning of June 16, 2026. At only 17 years old, Febie’s sudden passing has left her family, friends, classmates, and neighbors in deep sorrow, struggling to understand such an unimaginable loss.

According to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 7:20 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 327 and County Road 350 North in rural Jackson Township. Emergency responders rushed to the scene after reports of a serious two-vehicle collision involving an unconscious driver. Upon arrival, they found Febie unresponsive inside her vehicle.

First responders, including the Orland Fire Department and Steuben County EMS, worked tirelessly and with urgency to save her life. A medical helicopter was requested in hopes of transporting her for advanced care, but despite every effort and every life-saving measure attempted, Febie tragically succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Investigators reported that Febie had been driving a tan 2017 Chevrolet Malibu and entered the intersection from County Road 350 North when her vehicle collided with a northbound Ford F-150 traveling on State Road 327. The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

As the news spread across the community, grief quickly followed. The loss of someone so young is always especially painful—a heartbreaking reminder of how fragile and precious life truly is. Febie was at the beginning of her journey, with dreams to pursue, goals to reach, and a future filled with endless possibilities.

Though her time here was far too short, Febie’s life touched many.
